Provider Orientation Webinars Every Tuesday

To help our new behavioral health providers have a smooth transition into our network, we will host weekly orientation webinars each Tuesday in December and January. The webinar sessions will last two hours to allow for a thorough question and answer period.

When: 10 am – noon, every Tuesday, December 1 – January 31

Who should attend: Office managers, billers, clinicians and others involved in the managed care process

Authorizations and Transition of Care

We are committed to creating a smooth, uninterrupted transition of care for our members and providers. From 12/01/15 through 02/29/16, we will implement a transition of care period for Magellan authorizations.

There will be a grace period for all authorizations with end dates before 12/31/15. These authorizations will be automatically extended to 12/31/2015.

Where To Send Claims

If you decide to use a Clearinghouse like PaySpan or Emdeon, they will send your claims directly to us on your behalf. Claims can also be submitted electronically using our secure portal or can be mailed to our claims processing center (not our Baton Rouge headquarters):

How to Join Our Provider Network

To ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted care for your patients, we and our partner company, Cenpatico, are acting quickly to contract with behavioral health providers. Prospective Provider Packets have been mailed to all current providers in the Magellan network.

Provider Search Listings

Once you are fully contracted and credentialed, Louisiana Healthcare Connections will automatically add you to our online Find a Provider search feature and submit your information to DHH for inclusion in the Bayou Health online provider listing.

Setting Up Automatic Bank Deposit

Once we process your prospective provider packet, PaySpan will send you an invitation to register to receive electronic payments. This service is free for our providers and registration only takes 5-10 minutes. During registration, you will set up a profile of your practice, specify bank accounts (multiple accounts if you desire), and set preferences for checks, EFTs, ERAs, and claim payment information.

Clinical Training

We offer free training for Louisiana Healthcare Connections network providers and stakeholders. Dedicated clinical trainers will offer sessions in group settings, through web-based training, and in person. Through these efforts, we hope to enhance integrated care and expand the use of evidenced based practices for both behavioral and physical health providers. Training topics will include:

  • Covered Benefits and Levels of Care
  • Medical Necessity Criteria
  • Behavioral Health Screening Tools
  • Behavioral Health 101
  • Diagnosis Specific Topics
  • Stress Management for Caregivers
  • LOCUS

  • PASRR II

  • Completing clinical authorizations

  • And many, many more.

We are approved to provide Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to the following licenses: LPC. In addition, Relias Learning, our e-learning partner, is credentialed to provide CEUs for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Licensed Addiction Counselors, (LAC, RAC, CIT, GAC, etc.) as well as a variety of other boards.

Non-licensed Behavioral Health Provider Training

Non-licensed behavioral health providers are required by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals to complete standard basic training courses. Access these trainings here.
