Louisiana Healthcare Connections and the Centene Foundation for Quality Healthcare granted the Iberia Development Foundation and the Iberia Parish Government $110,000 to build a greenhouse and promote good nutrition.

The greenhouse will make it easier for kids to get fresh fruits and vegetables. It will also help them learn about good nutrition. Students will grow many types of plants, like Creole tomatoes, Iraqi watermelons, apple trees and pole beans.

“We work every day to make it easier to get well, receive services, and strengthen our communities. This greenhouse will make a big, positive difference for the kids of Jeanerette,” said Jamie Schlottman, Louisiana Healthcare Connections CEO.

The greenhouse is still under construction… but they’ve already got some vegetables growing!
