Medicaid Member Health Plan Auto Assignment
There is an important Medicaid change happening this special enrollment period.
The Louisiana Department of Health is automatically assigning most Medicaid patients to different health plans due to the admissision of a new MCO. The new assignment is effective on January 1, 2023 unless they take action.
All Medicaid members are getting a letter from LDH informing them of their health plan assignment. This can potentially have a big impact on your patients and practice.
What does this mean for your patients?
Your Medicaid patients could get switched to a health plan they did not choose. That health plan could have different extra benefits and services.
What does that mean for your practice?
If your patients are moved to new health plans, you may or may not be in-network for them. That means you will have to either join their MCO's network, lose your patient, or get a single case agreement.
Good News: Your patients can still choose the health plan they want. But they must make their choice by 6 p.m. on December 29, 2022 to avoid being switched.
Encourage your patients to visit MyPlan.Healthy.LA.gov/my-account to choose the health plan they prefer.
