On April 22, 2024, UnitedHealth Group issued a press release, providing an update on the Change Healthcare cybersecurity incident that occurred on Feb. 21, 2024. Given the size of the data impacted, the investigation to determine whose data is impacted is expected to take several months. UnitedHealth Group believes this situation will impact “a substantial proportion of people in America” and is offering immediate credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated contact center to address questions. Medicaid members must verify their eligibility for their coverage to continue.

As a healthcare professional, your patients look to you for expert advice.

So, remind your patients that if they recieve a letter from Medicaid, they must respond or they risk losing their Medicaid coverage.

Let your patients know:

  1. To get ready for renewals by updating their mailing address, cell phone number, and email address with Louisiana Medicaid and their health plan.

  2. They should receive a letter a few months before their Medicaid anniversary date with instructions for verifying their eligibility.

  3. If their eligibility is confirmed, they can continue their existing coverage. If they are no longer eligible for Medicaid, they can explore our Marketplace and Medicare options.
