Louisiana Healthcare Connections Hosts MANage Your Health

Date: 04/03/25

Free, Community Event Encourages Men’s Wellness

Baton Rouge, La. – Louisiana Healthcare Connections is taking men’s health seriously at the MANage Your Health event, hosted at the Southern University Seymour Gym April 26 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The event will feature engaging activities, health and wellness information, and exciting door prizes, encouraging men to prioritize their health and well-being. Register for the event.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections is urging men of all ages to stop delaying their health screenings. The event includes a variety of free health screenings, including tests for diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure—critical health indicators that often go unchecked.

According to the CDC, “nearly half of men in the U.S. have high blood pressure, a condition often called ‘the silent killer’ because it typically has no symptoms. That’s why it’s so important for men to prioritize regular health screenings like those being offered at the MANage Your Health event,” said Stewart T. Gordon, M.D., FAAP, Chief Medical Officer of Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “We also want to remind men not to skip their annual check-ups—especially critical screenings that are often overlooked, such as those for colorectal cancer.”

Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. While early detection greatly improves outcomes, colorectal cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. To encourage preventive care, Louisiana Healthcare Connections members who qualify can earn $50 in healthy rewards for completing this vital screening.

“This event is about taking charge of your health,” emphasized Joseph St. Mary, Director of Community Partnerships for Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “Come out, get expert advice, screenings, and information that will help you MANage your health!”

Louisiana Healthcare Connections encourages all men to have open discussions with their healthcare providers and make routine check-ups a priority. For more information, visit www.LouisianaHealthConnect.com.
