Louisiana Healthcare Connections and LCMC Health Partner for Back-to-School Event

Louisiana Healthcare Connections and LCMC Health are inviting families to get back-to-school ready with a health, wellness, and resource fair. The Back-to-School Boogaloo will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joe W. Brown Park Recreation Center in New Orleans. The family-friendly event will provide important health screenings while offering games, food, entertainment, and back-to-school giveaways to help families prepare for the upcoming school year.

The event is designed to encourage families to stay up to date on preventive care by making health screenings convenient, engaging and fun. Children and their families will also have the opportunity to connect with healthcare professionals and community organizations that provide valuable health resources and support services throughout the year.

"Regular well-child visits are one of the most important ways parents can help their children stay healthy and ready to learn," said Evelyn Foster, Manager of Community Engagement for Louisiana Healthcare Connections. "By partnering with LCMC Health, we're making it easy for families to access preventive care while enjoying a fun community celebration. We look forward to welcoming families for a day of health, education and activities that support children as they head back to school."

Hosted by NOLA Public Schools, Agenda for Children, ThriveKids Student Wellness Project, Manning Family Children’s, and New Orleans East Hospital, with the support of Councilmember Jason Hughes, the event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend, enjoy the festivities and take advantage of the health screenings and community resources available.
