Louisiana Healthcare Connections Earns Commendable Health Plan Accreditation from NCQA

Date: 09/22/17

Baton Rouge, LA

Louisiana Healthcare Connections, the state’s largest Medicaid health plan serving more than 475,000 members, has achieved Commendable Health Plan Accreditation status from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA Accreditation is a comprehensive evaluation of health plan operations, programs, clinical performance and consumer experience measures.

To achieve Commendable status, Louisiana Healthcare Connections demonstrated outstanding operations and clinical performance, and once again scored near the maximum possible points for member satisfaction as measured by the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey.

“NCQA accreditation is a reflection of the work our employees do every day,” said Jamie Schlottman, CEO & Plan President of Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “Earning Commendable status recognizes our success in delivering continuous improvement and high-quality service for our members and providers.”

"Achieving an accreditation status of Commendable from NCQA is a sign that a health plan is serious about quality," said Margaret E. O'Kane, president, NCQA. "It is awarded to plans whose service and clinical quality meet or exceed NCQA's rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement."

With offices in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Covington and New Orleans, Louisiana Healthcare Connections’ 500 local employees provide high-quality service to more than 475,000 members and 15,000 physicians, hospitals and other healthcare providers. Louisiana Healthcare Connections is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC).

NCQA is an independent organization that evaluates the quality and service provided by health plans. Employers and government officials recognize NCQA as the country’s leading independent reviewer of health plans.
