New Single PBM for Louisiana Medicaid Health Plans This Fall

Louisiana Medicaid is switching to Magellan Medicaid Administration as the single pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) for all Medicaid managed care members. This transition was originally scheduled for October 1, 2023, but has been briefly delayed. Watch for notices from LDH and managed care organizations (MCOs) as the new single PBM go-live date approaches.

All Medicaid MCO members have been issued new member ID cards with updated PBM details. During the transition, some Medicaid MCO members may present ID cards with new or old PBM information. Continue to use the MCO’s unique PBM codes until further notice. Reference the chart below for the correct PBM information for each Medicaid MCO patient you see.
