3 Things You Need to Know to Keep Your Medicaid Coverage
Date: 02/06/25
It’s a new year, and for Medicaid members, that means redetermination — the process you need to go through each year to confirm your eligibility. Sometime this year, you may have to update your information with Healthy Louisiana to make sure you’re still eligible for Medicaid.
Here are three important things to know:
You may get a letter from Louisiana Medicaid. This letter will explain how to verify that you are still eligible. Make sure to respond by the deadline on your letter. If you don’t, you could lose your coverage even if you are still eligible. If you have been auto-renewed, the letter may tell you that no action is needed.
If you haven’t gotten a letter, don’t worry. Everyone’s renewal date is different. But be sure to go to the Louisiana Department of Health website and keep your mailing address, cellphone number and email address up to date. This will help make sure you get important letters, emails and texts when it is your time to renew. You can also confirm or update your information by logging into our secure Member Portal or by calling us at 1-866-595-8133 (TTY: 711), Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you are no longer eligible for Medicaid, you can check out Medicare (for ages 65 and up) and Marketplace choices by visiting the Medicare website or the Health Insurance Marketplace website.
