Louisiana Healthcare Connections Gives Back to the Community

Employees Provide Comfort Backpacks to Kids in Need across the State

Louisiana Healthcare Connections serves its membership by providing access to quality healthcare, but the company and its employees are also committed to serving the community as a whole. Recently, an employee leadership team-building exercise included giving back to a nonprofit organization that is committed to helping children removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse and placed into foster care.

Brave Heart, Children In Need, Inc., which serves nearly 40 parishes throughout Louisiana, provides backpacks filled with contents which can be a tangible source of comfort to children. Louisiana Healthcare Connections leaders provided backpacks filled with toiletries, earbuds, crayons, and other supplies that children can use. Additionally, they provided backpacks for babies which included blankets, teddy bears, booties, onesies, pacifiers, and a baby book.

“It was such a wonderful surprise to receive the backpack donation from Louisiana Healthcare Connections employees,” said Wendi Lemoine, Executive Director of Brave Heart, Children In Need. “We were even more overwhelmed by the additional donation to help fund some of our other programs and appreciate the efforts by the employee volunteers and company as a whole.”

In addition to this donation, Louisiana Healthcare Connections’ employees regularly volunteer with Brave Heart and other nonprofits to give back in their local communities.

“We are happy to support organizations who share our commitment to serving children in our community,” said Joseph St. Mary, Louisiana Healthcare Connections Director of Community Partnerships. “Healthcare is more than just access to physicians, and we wanted to provide these kids with a reminder that someone cares.”
