How-to Guide for MHR Providers on Including an Individual NPI on a Claims Form

Beginning October 1, 2018, unlicensed roster staff rendering Mental Health Rehabilitation (MHR) services through an agency must bill with their individual NPI number in Box 24J on the CMS-1500 (HCFA). To help clarify this requirement, we've created this short walk-through to show you, step-by-step, how and where to include your individual NPI and your group NPI.

Please Note: This policy took effect August 1, 2018. Claims submitted without an individual NPI will be denied beginning October 1, 2018. This requirement is Louisiana Healthcare Connections policy and is separate from Act 582.
