Louisiana Healthcare Connections, Centene Foundation Support Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana with Emergency Food Assistance Funding

Date: 02/25/26

Baton Rouge

Louisiana Healthcare Connections, a Medicaid health plan serving the Louisiana Department of Health, and Centene Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Centene Corporation, presented a check Tuesday for $26,000 to the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana to support emergency food assistance for families experiencing food insecurity across Northeast Louisiana.

The investment in the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is part of a broader $125,000 commitment from Louisiana Healthcare Connections and the Centene Foundation to strengthen food access across the state. Funding supports four regional food banks, expanding emergency food assistance, increasing food acquisition and distribution, enhancing pantry capacity in underserved areas, and supporting mobile food distribution to reach rural communities.

“Reliable access to nutritious food is essential to maintaining good health,” said Jamie Schlottman, plan president of Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana plays a critical role in serving families who face persistent barriers to food access, and we are proud to support their work through this partnership.”

The Centene Foundation’s contribution reflects a shared commitment to whole-person health by addressing basic needs that influence long-term well-being for families, seniors, and children across Northeast Louisiana.

“This support allows us to strengthen our network of charitable food distribution projects and extend our reach into communities with the greatest need,” said Jean Toth, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. “We are grateful for the partnership with Louisiana Healthcare Connections and the Centene Foundation as we work to combat hunger in our region.”
