Louisiana Medicaid Quarterly Wage Checks for Patients
Date: 05/14/24
Louisiana Healthcare Connections is sharing with providers that Louisiana Medicaid is restarting quarterly eligibility wage checks effective May 2024. Wage checks have been paused since the start of the federal COVID-19 public health emergency.
Some patients may receive letters requesting income verification to maintain their Medicaid coverage. Patients will have a 10-day window to respond.
The following groups are exempt from these quarterly checks:
- Pregnant women
- Children
- Members in an active renewal period
- Members in long-term care or waiver programs
Providers are encouraged to share this information with their patients and encourage the importance of responding promptly to any letter they receive, even if they believe they are still eligible. Failure to respond could result in a loss of Medicaid coverage.
Providers can help by:
- Informing them about the wage checks during appointments or through signage in your waiting areas.
- Encouraging them to update their contact information at https://ldh.la.gov/subhome/48.
- Directing them to resources for more information: www.healthy.la.gov
Louisiana Medicaid hotline: 1-888-342-6207
Additional Resource:
- Downloadable flyer for your office reminding patients about the wage checks.
Working together, we can ensure our patients maintain their Louisiana Medicaid coverage and continue receiving the healthcare services they need.
