2018-10: Standardized Assessments for Members Receiving CPST/PSR Services

Date: 02/09/18

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) issued Informational Bulletin 18-2 (IB18-2) on February 9, 2018, to all Mental Health Rehabilitation (MHR) providers.

Starting March 1, 2018, all MHR service providers will be required to implement the Child Adolescent Level of Care Utilization System (CALOCUS) and the Level of Care Utilization System (LOCUS) for members between the ages of six and 20 who are receiving CPST and/or PSR services. MHR provider staff must be trained and must conduct the assessments as detailed in IB18-2.

  • Members ages 6-18 receiving CPST and/or PSR services must be assessed using the CALOCUS.
  • Members ages 19-20 receiving CPST and/or PSR services must be assessed using the LOCUS.

A CALOCUS/LOCUS rating must be completed and submitted for all members prior to receiving CPST/PSR services as part of the initial comprehensive assessment and every 180 days until discharge. The LOCUS/CALOCUS must be conducted and rated by a physician or other Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) who has successfully completed the required training. Physicians and LMHP staff assessing members using the CALOCUS/LOCUS must complete training prior to their first rating.
