2018-59: LDH Issues Health Plan Advisories for DME

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has issued two Health Plan Advisories related to Durable Medical Equipment (DME). Both of the following advisories take effect Jan. 1, 2019:

HPA18-15: Durable Medical Equipment Coverage of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Devices: Effective with dates of service on Jan. 1, 2019, Louisiana Medicaid will reimburse for long-term continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices through the durable medical equipment program. HPA 18-16: Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coverage of Electric Breast Pumps: Effective for date of service on Jan. 1, 2019, double electric breast pumps will be covered equipment without prior authorization through the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Program for nursing mothers. Recipients must present a prescription for the breast pump and documentation of delivery date to the DME provider.  Please click here to review the complete HPA and to see the billable codes for supplies.
