2020-19: LDH Issues Health Plan Advisory for HCPCS Update

The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has issued Health Plan Advisory (HPA) 20-24 for the 2021 Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).

LDH is updating the Medicaid files to reflect new and deleted procedure codes for 2021. The intent is to have the 2021 codes on file with the applicable fee schedule published as quickly as possible. Updates to the fee schedules will be posted on the Louisiana Medicaid website, www.lamedicaid.com.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections understands the critical nature of these changes and is in the process of updating our system to reflect the new procedure codes for Jan. 1, 2021. Fee schedule changes will be complete no later than 15 days after the Medicaid file is released.

Any claims that are denied due to the new 2021 codes will be reprocessed. No action is required from providers.
