Building a Diabetes Prevention and Management Program (Webinars April 15 and 29)

The Louisiana Primacy Care Association (LPCA) is co-hosting a 2-part virtual webinar with Well-Ahead Louisiana at 11:00 AM -12:00 PM on April 15 and 29, 2021. This training is designed for healthcare professionals and non-healthcare professionals looking to learn how to start the National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) and/or a Diabetes Self-Management and Education and Support (DSMES) program at their FQHC. Registration limited to Federally Qualified Health Centers only. 

April 15: Learning Objectives

Participants in these two one-hour training sessions will learn:
• Define prediabetes and diabetes
• Define the National Diabetes Prevention Program and Diabetes Self-management Education and Support Program
• Describe both programs recognition process, accreditation and standards

April 29: Discussion

In the follow-up panel discussion training participants will learn:
• How to use the LPCA data dashboard to view uncontrolled diabetes rates
• ICD-10 coding to meet A1C quality measures
• Operational workflow challenges
• Referral policies and practices

Presenters

Marcy Hubbs, MBA, RDN, CDE

Marcy Hubbs is the manager for Well-Ahead Louisiana's Diabetes Education Programming. Marcy has spent over 20 years working in the healthcare industry with much of her work focused on diabetes care, cardiovascular disease, and weight management. She has worked as a diabetes educator in the FQHC, large hospital, outpatient clinic, and corporate wellness settings. She has assisted these various organizations with health education development, implementation, and management. Her passion lies in health promotion and disease prevention. Marcy received her undergraduate degree in dietetics from LSU and her Masters Business Administration through LSU-Shreveport to better serve in her role in helping improve Louisiana’s health. Marcy looks forward to assisting the healthcare providers across the state with the resources and assistance they need to provide the best quality care to their patients.


Rebecca Guidroz

Rebecca Guidroz serves as the Diabetes Prevention Coordinator for Well-Ahead Louisiana. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist and diabetes prevention lifestyle coach. Rebecca is responsible for supporting the development of new National Diabetes Prevention Programs (National DPP) in our state, as well as leading our LA Diabetes Education Network Prevents (LaDENPrevents), which engages National DPP coordinators and lifestyle coaches to offer professional development and technical assistance. She also became a certified Work@Health trainer and Wellness Culture Coach while working with Well-Ahead LA. Rebecca graduated from Louisiana State University with a BS in dietetics. She became a registered dietitian in 2011 after completing her internship at North Oaks Health System.
