Early Serious Mental Illness (ESMI) / First Episode Psychosis Training Available

The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) is hosting training for Early Serious Mental Illness (ESMI)/First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Treatment Programming . Trainings will be facilitated by Ashley Weiss and Serena Chanudhry of Tulane School of Psychiatry, Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic (EPIC) NOLA Program Staff.
The Purpose of this training is for physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, LPCs, and Peers to gain more knowledge about the following:
- Rationale for intervention in the early stages of schizophrenia-spectrum disorders
- Fundamental common knowledge necessary to guide the approach as well as application of clinical care for someone experiencing first-episode psychosis in a coordinated specialty care model
- Providing effective first episode care with limited resources and the best use of Mental Health Block Grant set-aside funding
- Address topics and challenges identified by LGEs during previous needs assessment survey, to include Peer Support, Prescriber Training, and Community Engagement
- Details of the SAMHSA ESMI set aside mandate and additional support and resources to ESMI programs throughout the state

- Social Workers and Psychologists approved for 6.5 Clinical CEUs
- LPCs Approved for 5.5 CEUs
- Nurses approved for 4 CEUs
